This was the first fishing trip north of Lake Simcoe for me and the first fishing trip to “Northern Ontario” for my brother and Dad (Vancouver, BC). They’re committed trout and salmon fisherman but I thought a taste of bass, pike and walleye might change their opinions. Diamond Key Lodge, the vacation and the fishing did that in “spades”. Superb setting, sunsets and accommodations.
Outstanding hospitality and service from David, Maggie and Chester “the one-eyed wonder dog” (R.I.P).
Superb fishing in and around “camp”, the Key River and all the spots marked on the fishing map provided by David and Maggie. We had a great time while we were there and, more importantly, wonderful memories and pictures to take home and last through the year. Can’t wait to come back and try out some of the spots we didn’t get to this trip. Thanks again for a great “Northern Ontario” fishing vacation.

"I Spent a weekend up at Diamond Key with my inlaws.  With the expection of my brother in-law catching the biggest fish we all had a great time.  The service, hospitality and advice that we received from Maggie and Dave was fantastic; as well the quality of the cabins, facilities and fishing boats were exceptional.  We are already planning on going back next year.  Thanks for the great weekend."

I had a great time at the lodge this summer. The cabins doubled as our little piece of paradise as well as our shelter from the storm. Though the weather could have been a little more in our favor the lodge was comfortable; with that family kind of feel.

Just wanted to drop a line to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Diamond Key. As usual the cabins were clean and smelling of fresh paint . The fishing was great and it was great to see a lot of small fish. This means that all of us releasing those monsters that we catch must be helping. Thanks for making us feel so welcome even if we were a little noisy sometimes.

The walking trails are an amazing way to get some exercise and enjoy nature at its best. I especially enjoyed the fact that the trails were well groomed and marked  so that my family could enjoy walking to the beautiful hidden lake without getting lost.

I have been going to the Diamond Key Lodge for the last 9 years. We have had groups as small as 4 and as many as 16. I have never heard a bad thing about any of our trips. The location, lodging, fishing, etc. are all great, but in my opinion what really makes this lodge a hit are the hosts; Maggie and Dave...you can always count on Maggie and Dave to be there for you and help you enjoy your stay.
I would recommend this lodge to anyone, weather you are an avid fisherman or just enjoy being close to nature.

I wanted to tell you what a delightful experience we had during our spring visit to Diamond Key Lodge.  My family has fished the North Shore of Georgian Bay since 1927, mostly on the French River, but the available camps gradually closed and the fishing became just so-so.  My sons surfed the Internet looking for an alternative and we found Diamond Key Lodge where we made immediate reservations.

The new Lund boats and motors got us off on the right foot and imagine our surprise when David welcomed us at the dock, helped us to our cabin and Maggie welcomed us to the Lodge.  When we got to our cabin it was perfectly outfitted with everything we could have wanted including very comfortable beds and bedding (things we had not had previously).  Over the next five days we were to discover what a great cook Maggie is and what FABULOUS hosts David and Maggie are.  They instantly became our friends and it seemed that they had been so for many years.

Both My son and I caught the biggest Northern Pike (18 and 22 lb.) we have ever caught and that alone insured a successful trip. We did not catch a lot of fish but that was more than made up by the warmth and comfort that we received.  All four of us agreed that, if possible, we'll be back next year.

Tony and I have been kayaking and camping and canoeing throughout Ontario for over 20 years. This year we wanted a base camp which would provide us with some comforts, but at the same time a location which would provide overnight or day kayak trips which were varied, interesting and challenging if we were in the mood. Diamond Key did all of this and more. It's location is excellent, it's facilities just what we were looking for and its staff efficient and friendly. As a starting point or as a base camp, we would recommend Diamond Key to beginners as well as experienced paddlers.

My family and I have been coming to the Key Harbor area of Georgian Bay since 1982 and each year is better than the one before.  The fishing is great!  We have caught and released many trophy fish of northern pike, walleye, musky, and smallmouth bass.  But not only is the fishing great, the cabins are very comfortable and well maintained, the boats and motors are very reliable, and the hospitality of the hosts, Dave and Maggie, are above that of a very expensive lodge.  I have been to many of them and I always find myself wishing I was at Diamond Key Lodge instead. The best fishing, scenery, hospitality and prettiest sunsets bar none!

I had my first experience at Diamond key this summer and I must say that the scenery is spectacular and the fishing is amazing. I have fished for many years in northern Ontario at fly-in fishing camps and the fishing at diamond key is comparable.
No need to travel for 20 plus hours to find the big ones….

Diamond Key Lodge is uniquely positioned in some of the finest paddling waters on the planet.   We have been lucky to  use their services and facility this season for several paddling programmes.  Without exception, the response to the site from our participants and instructors has been overwhelming.  Clean, well appointed cabins, with hot and cold water, full washroom facilities-along with the best rocks, trees and sunsets in the world.  If you get a chance to go, do it – as Canadians we don’t know how lucky we are to have places like this available to us.  Keeping a place like Diamond Key going is a labour of love, and it’s up to us in the paddling community to support it so it’s here for generations to come.
